You can be grateful for your life and still want more from it. That is not a contradiction. It is part of being alive, curious and willing to keep creating.
Somewhere along the way, a lot of us learn to justify desire. We explain why we want a different relationship, a new level of success, more freedom with our time or simply more fun. As if wanting something is only acceptable when what we have is terrible.
What if you dropped the courtroom? What if you didn’t have to prove that your present life is bad before you were allowed to imagine another possibility?
More does not always mean bigger. It might mean slower mornings, more laughing, work you look forward to, an easier relationship with money, a different kind of love or a calendar full of people you genuinely enjoy.
And yes, sometimes more means more money, more ambition or a bigger goal. You get to want that too.
The interesting question is not whether you are allowed to want more. You are. The interesting question is: Is what you are pursuing actually yours?
Take a minute and ask yourself: What would I want if I did not need to explain it, defend it or make it sound impressive? What do I love about my life already? What would make it even better?
You can enjoy the process instead of postponing enjoyment until you arrive. This is your life, not a rehearsal for one.
