You Are a PRODUCT of Your Rituals

gratitude

You are a product of your current rituals. Think about it. I can look at you and know whether-or-not you go to the gym. I can look at you and know if you eat healthy foods regularly or regularly go out to eat fast food. I can tell what kind of relationship you have by how you greet each other. Do you walk in the door on your phone and then go sit and check emails? Do you greet your kids or do you walk in the door and let them continue playing on their devices? What is your night-time ritual like? Do you go for a walk after dinner or turn on the tv? When you wake up do you write in a gratitude journal or eat donuts and scroll through Facebook?

None of these rituals are necessarily right or wrong, but they do produce certain results in your life.

If you walk in the house with your face in your phone your relationship will be very different than someone who walks in and greets their partner with a smile, an enthusiastic “I missed you all day” and a long kiss.  If you only have sex once a month your passion level with your partner is going to be different than a couple that has sex 4 times/week. If you go to the gym 5 times/week you will have a different body-type than someone who sits all day. If you love your job your energy levels after work will be higher than someone who counts down the minutes. Do you call your parent that constantly nags at you every morning or do you call your friend that lifts you up because they too are in a great place? These are rituals. They are how we live our day-to-day life and they matter…. A LOT! These are the things we continuously do that put us in particular states. And if there is anything you have learned from reading my articles or coaching with me, it is that your state and what you think are responsible for what you do or do not achieve in your life.

There are rituals that put us in peak state, and there are rituals that put us in terrible states. What you consistently do is so much more important than what you do once-in-a-while.

Routines are crucial. Look around at what you do on a-daily-basis. What are your rituals? And then ask yourself what that ritual brings you? What rituals could help you change your state and your life for the better?

Although there are no right or wrong answers, there are some basic rituals that have been proven to put you and your relationships, your work, your finances and your life in general in peak state. It is not enough to just go through the motions, you need the emotion also. If your rituals are not bringing you to peak state, it is time to re-evaluate.

Here are some rituals that are proven to improve your state:

-Meditate

-Express gratitde

-Journal

-Exercise

-Visualize

-Have a plan and execute

-Be conscious of how you talk to and about others

-Greet people with enthusiasm and eye contact

-Eat healthy foods

-Work at a job you love

-Give back

-Read, keep learning

-Manage your money, regardless of how much you have

-Know what you value and stick to it

-Connect with likeminded people

-Wake up earlier

-Turn off your electronics when you are with people

-Constantly set goals and check them off

-Spend time with positive people who are also focused on success

What are some of your rituals?

Dana
