Want to Feel Better? Appreciation is the Answer

appreciation

APPRECIATION.

This is quite possibly the most beneficial and feel-good emotion that there is. When you are appreciating you only see the good. You only see what you like. You look for characteristics in people that you love and enjoy. You seek out the best in everyone and everything.

Appreciation Feels so Good.

When you are in the mode of appreciation you feel good and in turn that makes others feel good. Why? Because you are seeking out their best characteristics. You are only praising what is so great about them. Think about it. Do you prefer to be around people who bring out the best or the worst in you? I am going to assume you said the best.

Do You Bring Out the Best in Others?

Do you like to be around people who have a problem with everyone and everything or people who focus on things and people they like, and are quick to move into solution mode regarding what they don’t? If you are one of those people out looking for problems and the worst in people, you are definitely not bringing out the best in people. If you prefer to be around people who talk highly of others, you are likely someone who makes others feel good. It is really pretty simple.

Appreciation Changes Everything

From a creation standpoint, if you spend more time in appreciation, more of what you want will come your way. Opportunities will flow, wonderful people will b e all around you, people you already know will begin showing you their best side. Life just gets better and better.

Even if it is Justified, it is Still Messing up Your Future.

No matter how justified you are in talking about what you do not like, what people are doing wrong, what the problems are, what someone else did to you back in the day, you are messing up your own future. You are not allowing the best people and circumstances to flow into your life. You have to stop talking about what is wrong in the world and focus on what is right. Focus on what is going well. Focus on where you want to go, what characteristics in people you want more of, how wonderful things really are. If a specific subject is just too challenging to feel appreciation for or be in a positive state about, just stay away from it. Don’t talk about it. Don’t think about it. Just let it go for a while until you can address it with a different perspective and from a place of appreciation. You can simply focus on something else that you do feel good about, and watch how that impacts all the other subjects in your life. You do not have to focus on something that you feel bad about in order to change it. In fact, you can’t. You have to be able to approach the subject from a better emotional state or with the help of someone who can see it differently and then address it. Spending as much time as you possibly can in appreciation will clean-up a significant amount of “issues” you have without even needing them to be directly addressed. Many of the problems people have, if not all, come from a lack of appreciation of self and others.

10-day challenge

For 10 days I want you to practice only appreciating people and things. If you can’t say something nice, don’t speak. Just be quiet. If someone else is speaking negatively or showing a lack of appreciation, just do not contribute. Stay quiet, remove yourself from the situation, hang-up the phone, turn off the news, whatever you have to do. In just 10 days your emotional set point will have significantly shifted and you will feel so much better than you do currently. Circumstances and events that you have been waiting for will start easily flowing into your life. Problems will begin to disappear, you will feel lighter and happier. Keep it up and it just keeps getting better and better. There is no limit to how good you can feel.

Start the day off right by listing on paper as many things as you can that you appreciate about yourself, life and others. Repeat this exercise every day when you wake up. And remember, no complaining, bad mouthing, judging, criticizing or debating for 10 days.

Let me know how this goes!

Dana
