Power Emotions

Do you intentionally cultivate emotions that you want to feel? Do you actively choose to plant the seeds of powerful, positive emotions? If you focus on feeling what you want to feel daily, you hold yourself to a level of greatness that will result in living all of your dreams.

Consciously cultivating these emotions is the second part of moving past living in negative emotions as described in this article.

There are 10 power emotions that when cultivated radically bring you the life you desire.

(Adapted from Tony Robbins Awaken The Giant Within)

  1. Love: The consistent expression of love melts all negative emotion away. If someone comes to you in a state of hurt or anger and you consistently respond with love, eventually their state will change. Understand that all communication is either a loving response or a cry for help. If you remember this it makes it easier to respond to others with love and to shift back to love when you’ve found yourself in negative emotion. Remember…negative emotion is simply a call-to-action and you can always respond to it with love whether you’re dealing with others or yourself.
  2. Appreciation: Living in appreciation will enhance your life more than almost anything else. Appreciate anything and everything you can as often as you can and watch what happens to your life.
  3. Curiosity: If you want to grow your life, learn to live as curious as a child. If you’ve been bored, become curious. Nothing is boring when you’re curious.
  4. Excitement and Passion: Passion is power to move your life forward at a faster rate. You have to decide to feel it. Use your physiology; speak more quickly, visualize more rapidly, move more. When you put your physical body in a state of excitement, you feel it and you can direct it towards anything.
  5. Determination: This emotion means the difference between being stuck and being stuck with commitment. Acting with determination means making a decision and cutting yourself off from any other possibility. This is what allows you to take the action that needs to be taken and allows the universe to bring you everything you need to make it so. Just be sure not to get stuck only trying one approach in your determined state; be willing to change your approach and/or way when inspired. This brings us to…
  6.  Flexibility: Last weeks article about negative emotions explained that those emotions were just signals that something needed to shift or be changed. In other words, you need to adopt flexibility. Choosing to be flexible is choosing to be happy. There will surely be things in life you can not control and the ability to be flexible ensures your continued success anyway. There may also be a better way to achieve something, flexibility ensures you are open to receiving and then implementing it.
  7. Confidence: Confidence requires faith. When you are confident you are willing to experiment, or put yourself out on the line. One way to develop faith and confidence is simply to practice using it consistently. The ability to act on faith instead of fear is what moves us forward.
  8. Cheerfulness: Being cheerful means you’re incredibly intelligent because you know if you live in a state of pleasure, you can have the impact to meet virtually any challenge that comes your way. It enhances your self-esteem, makes life more fun, and makes people around you happier as well. Cheerfulness has the power to eliminate feelings of hurt, anger, frustration, disappointment, depression, guilt, and inadequacy. So allow yourself to be outwardly cheerful…wear it on your face.
  9. Vitality: You must take care of your physical body. Learn to breathe deeply, rest, recharge, move more and fuel up with foods that put you in an optimal state.
  10. Contribution: We are not talking about contributing to others at the expense of yourself. Playing the martyr will not give you a sense of contribution. We are talking about a sense that who you are as a person, something you’ve said or done, has added to more than just your life, that somehow it has enhanced life’s experience for someone else.

Plant these emotions daily.

Learn to use negative emotions as calls to action.

Every emotion you have is based on your own interpretation of what things mean. When you feel any emotion, ask yourself what you think this means. This is how you begin to take control of your emotions and ultimately your life.
