A Successful Mindset

Have you ever noticed that successful people have a certain mindset and emotional state regarding success? Look at someone who is successful in any area and you will notice certain characteristics and states present. Now, just because you’re successful in one area does NOT mean you’re successful in another. However, if you take how you think and feel regarding something you are successful at, you can apply that to any area where you would like to see more success.

Everyone has some area where they excel or have excelled. What did you feel like? How did you think? Did you have focus? Were you committed to success? Did you do whatever it took to succeed?

Here is a list of some successful vs. unsuccessful thought and behavior patterns. Which list describes you? Where could you shift your thinking to become more successful?

Successful

  • Compliment.
  • Embrace change.
  • Forgive.
  • Talk about ideas.
  • Continuously learn.
  • Accept responsibility for themselves.
  • Express gratitude.
  • Set goals and develop life plans.
  • Focus on rewards.
  • Focus on what they want.
  • Admire and associate with other successful people.
  • Are passionate about what and who is important to them.
  • See challenge as an opportunity for growth.
  • Do not back away from problems, do not avoid problems, do not complain about problems. They see them as a gift.
  • Work hard and expect rewards appropriate to their value.
  • When given a choice, choose both. They know everything is not one or the other.
  • When dealing with the subject of money, they manage their money well.
  • Willing to act in spite of fear.
  • Share information.
  • Track progress.
  • Committed to their goals.

Unsuccessful

  • Criticize.
  • Fear change.
  • Hold a grudge.
  • Talk about people.
  • Think they know it all.
  • Blame others for everything.
  • Have a sense of entitlement.
  • Never set goals.
  • Focus on risks.
  • Focus on what they don’t want.
  • Envy the successful and associate with negative, unsuccessful people.
  • Have issues with promoting who and what is important to them.
  • See a challenge and run or hide or complain.
  • Try to avoid and get rid of problems instead of dealing with them. They complain about problems instead of handling them.
  • Feel unworthy, so they work hard but feel their rewards are undeserved.
  • When given a choice, believe they have to choose either/or.
  • Mismanage their money or avoid the subject altogether.
  • Let fear stop them.
  • Horde information.
  • Don’t know what they want.
  • Get distracted everyday.

The more successful thoughts and behaviors you can embrace the happier and more successful you will become regarding anything that is important to you.

Have fun with this.

Dana
